Just discovered him. All I can say is "WOW!" This kid has brought Frank Zappa, Todd Rundgren, Take 6 and George Duke into the 21st century. What a talent. I'll definitely be following his career.

I have been following Jacob Collier for a while now. He continues to impress me with his music and his ability to interpret. A strong first showing for this young man. I expect great things from him. I recently attended his concert in Dallas and in Los Angeles. He is an incredible musician. I anticipate a lot more from Jacob. His mother by the way is also accomplished in her own right. I am sure that Jacob captures a lot from her genes. Overall... an incredible talent, and I am sure that Best is Yet to Come! I don’t say that lightly. This album is equal parts entrancing, interesting, and unpredictable. I never know where he’s going with a song, but I always find I’m comfortable wherever we are. And the constant reharmonization and well-placed textural shifts always keep things fresh… yet the same. Each song is like it’s own little world with its own rules, and then after he establishes those rules he breaks them in funky, satisfying ways. And let us not forget Mr. Collier recorded ALL of the vocals and instruments (to my knowledge). He is a formidable talent. Listen for yourself. *mic drop*

Anyone with sense knows something happened here. Jacob is fantastic! Justly considered a landmark for the new generation of jazz, with almost every track an instant classic. The title track, "In My Room" is just as good as the original, with high drama. Where did this dude came from, this is a great great great album!
  • Completely different than anything you've ever heard!

Jacob Collier's premier album is a really unique blend of genre. He plays more instruments than I knew existed and is incredibly versatile and creative in his arrangements. He is clearly a pioneer, creating a style that is unique to him. He has absolutely nailed it with this album!
